IMCAS Paris

January 28th, 2010

The visit to IMCAS in Paris this January proved to be the most exciting yet, and proved a wonderful experience for the two members of our staff, Stefanie and Karen, who came with us. The experience they gained will prove invaluable to the range of treatments we can offer at our newly opened second clinic on the Kingsway, Swansea.

One of the most surprising treatments on the horizon is the soon to be released Botulinum Toxin cream, which will be of particular interest to those who dislike needles, or are new to cosmetic treatments, with the effects expected to last about 8 weeks. Read the rest of this entry »

Perfectly situated on Swansea’s Kingsway, the clinic is only seconds away from ample parking, the city centre’s top retail outlets and, of course the renowned Andrew Price salon. News from IMCAS Asia

Following the disappointment of the American Association of Dermatology meeting in San Francisco, it was very refreshing to attend IMCAS Asia in Thailand. With its wonderful, simple and efficient organization, as well as its well balanced program of education and new product demonstration, it certainly demonstrated that in this instance the French can certainly show the rest of the world how to run a conference. The lectures, which contained a perfect mixture of new innovation and evidence, lifted the gloom that I had felt after returning from San Francisco. Read the rest of this entry »

BACD meeting in Monte Carlo and ‘The Madonna Lift’

November 20th, 2009

The meeting of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors in Monte Carlo was excellent as usual, with the ongoing education of members to the fore, as always. We also had confirmation that our ideas about which technology is best for a fat removal was correct – watch this space.

The next important meeting for us will be the annual IMCAS meeting in Paris in January 2010, when this year we will also be taking two of our most promising employees, Stefanie Williams and Karen Huxley with us, so that they to can gain invaluable experience of what is new in the Cosmetic Medicine world. As a clinic we feel that such investment in our staff is essential if we are to offer the best treatments available to our clients.

P.S. ‘The Madonna Lift’:

Dr Katz in New York, has apparently developed the ‘Madonna lift’ for the eyes, a treatment we have been carrying out very successfully for over a year. So for our patients who have had CO2 Fractional laser resurfacing around the eyes, you’ve had the ‘Madonna Lift’, before Madonna had it herself!!

November 20th, 2009

Anna Ryder RichardsonWe were delighted to welcome along to Defy Time TV presenter, interior designer and star of ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ Anna Ryder-Richardson to an exclusive open evening at the Killay clinic.

Anna joined us to talk about her recent Sculptra® aesthetic treatments, that have helped her turn back the clock and achieve a long lasting youthful glow.

The evening included:

- A very interesting and exclusive talk from Anna Ryder-Richardson about her Sculptra treatment including how she feels about getting older, why she decided it was time to have Sculptra, what the treatment is really like and how she feels about the results

- Q&A for Anna from our guests

- A presentation by myself about reducing the signs of ageing and replenishing facial collagen and volume to achieve long lasting natural results

- Live demonstration of Sculptra aesthetic treatment

- A series of one-off consultations for the group

All in all it was a very informative evening and one we will be looking to repeat in the future.

And of course, a big ‘thank you’ to Anna for sharing here time and experiences with us.

Botox

June 11th, 2009

Botox is still, without any doubt, the treatment of choice for lines & wrinkles of the upper face. The subtleness of its use is now in stark contrast with the perceived general opinion of the expressionless face, once so popular with ‘celebrities’. There has also been a rash of new ‘botox’ products on the market over the last few months, and we have yet to see if any of these new preparations show any distinct advantages over the tried and tested Botox and Dysport. Like many experienced practitioners in the UK, we prefer Dysport, which we feel lasts up to 25% longer, and gives a softer and more natural look, but we are always on the look out for anything gives a better and longer lasting result.

What’s on the horizon?

June 11th, 2009

After the disappointment of my visit to San Francisco, the program for the FACE Conference now has me in the depths of despair. It seems that the marketing men have managed to have taken over completely, with most of the time being allocated to firms selling equipment, with a marked absence of any educational content. Like many other clinics in the UK, we have decided not to attend the FACE, for the first time in its history. Instead we are concentrating on visits to IMCAS, in Asia in July 2009 and in Paris in Jan 2010. We will also be attending the annual meeting of the British Association of Cosmetic Doctors in Oct 2009.

We will keep you informed of the new developments which always arise from these excellent meetings.

‘What’s going on in the clinic?’

June 11th, 2009

The results from the Smartxide Fractional CO2 Resurfacing Laser are exceeding all expectations with the face, neck, hands and particularly around the eyes. With these results surgery for the upper and lower lids will soon be a thing of the past!!
Due to our considerable experience with Sculptra, we have now refined our techniques, giving results which have delighted us all. The combination of this with the Smartxide may see many Cosmetic Surgeons retraining in the near future!!

Recent Aquisitions at IMCAS Conferences

April 6th, 2009

Over the last 9 months I have attended IMCAS World Conferences in both Paris and Singapore which have enabled me to source not only the most up to-date treatments available anywhere, but also the most cost effective. A very important consideration in these turbulent times. Read the rest of this entry »
